Spatiotemporal Behavior of Small-World Neuronal Networks Using a Map-Based Model

Neural Processing Letters, 2016
In this paper, the dynamics of a map-based model is proposed firstly. It is a simple model which can not only reproduce rich behaviors of biological neurons but also compute efficiently. Then, the dynamics of two coupled maps that model the behavior of two electrically coupled neurons is discussed.

Information Capacity and Transmission in a Courbage–Nekorkin–Vdovin Map-Based Neuron Model

Chinese Physics Letters, 2017
The map-based neuron models have received attention as valid phenomenological neuron models due to their computational efficiency and flexibility to generate rich patterns. Here we evaluate the information capacity and transmission of the Courbage-Nekorkin-Vdovin (CNV) map-based neuron model with a bursting and tonic firing mode in response to external

Analysis of dynamics of a map-based neuron model via Lorenz maps

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science
Modeling nerve cells can facilitate formulating hypotheses about their real behavior and improve understanding of their functioning. In this paper, we study a discrete neuron model introduced by Courbage et al. [Chaos 17, 043109 (2007)], where the originally piecewise linear function defining voltage dynamics is replaced by a cubic polynomial, with an ...

Extreme Events in a Chaotic Map-Based Higher-Order Neuronal Model

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos
Higher-order networks represent complex multinode interactions beyond what traditional pairwise models can capture, offering deeper insights into many real-world system dynamics. Synchronization of complex networks is essential for achieving coordinated behavior, promoting efficient communication, stability, and overall functionality across various ...

Noise-induced bursting near a crisis bifurcation in a map-based neuron model

Physical Review E
Bursting oscillations, characterized by alternating patterns of rapid oscillations and quiescence, is a prototypical form of complex dynamics that can emerge in both in low-dimensional systems and networks of coupled dynamical systems. Such bursting patterns are frequently observed in a wide range of systems, including neuronal models, electronic ...

Complex Patterns in a Chain of Coupled Maps Based on a Neuron Model with Space and Time-Varying Couplings

2014
Biological neurons are able to exhibit spiking and bursting behavior. The interesting phenomena can be observed by synchronization of neuronal ensembles. We study synchronization phenomena in a chain of 2-dimensional maps based on a neuronal model with space-varying and time-varying couplings. In the case of space-varying coupling, wave propagation and
