Platelet factor 4 (PF-4)–induced neutrophil adhesion is controlled by src-kinases, whereas PF-4–mediated exocytosis requires the additional activation of p38 MAP kinase and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase [PDF]
AbstractAmong the various chemokines that are functionally active on neutrophils, platelet factor 4 (PF-4; CXCL4) appears to have a specialized role. Lacking typical chemokine activities, PF-4 stimulates neutrophils to undergo firm adhesion to endothelial cells and, in the presence of an appropriate costimulus like tumor necrosis factor (TNF), PF-4 ...

Reciprocal relationship between expression of MAP Kinase 4 and MAP Kinase 6 during pathogenesis ofAlternariaBlight inArabidopsis thaliana [PDF]
Arabidopsis thaliana was shown to be an alternate host plant for the disease, Alternaria blight of Brassica and used as a model plant to delineate the relationship between MAP Kinase 4 (MAPK4) and MAP Kinase 6 (MAPK6) during pathogenesis of Alternaria blight.

Design and Synthesis of 4-Azaindoles as Inhibitors of p38 MAP Kinase
Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2003Inhibition of the biosynthesis of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-1 via p38 has been an approach toward the development of a disease modifying agent for the treatment of chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases.

AbstractIn the present study, we investigated whether the mitogen‐activated protein (MAP) kinase superfamily is involved in the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)‐4‐stimulated synthesis of osteocalcin in osteoblast‐like MC3T3‐E1 cells. BMP‐4 dose‐dependently stimulated osteocalcin synthesis.

p38 MAP kinase regulates BMP-4-stimulated VEGF synthesis via p70 S6 kinase in osteoblasts
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2003We previously reported that p70 S6 kinase takes part in bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP-4)-stimulated vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) synthesis in osteoblast-like MC3T3-E1 cells. Recently, we showed that BMP-4-induced osteocalcin synthesis is regulated by p44/p42 MAP kinase and p38 MAP kinase in these cells.

We previously reported that bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP-4) stimulates the synthesis of osteocalcin via p38 mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase in osteoblast-like MC3T3-E1 cells, whereas p44/p42 MAP kinase plays as a negative regulator in the synthesis.

Structural and signaling requirements of the human melanocortin 4 receptor for MAP kinase activation
Regulatory Peptides, 2007In addition to its well known stimulation of cAMP production, the human melanocortin type 4 (hMC4) receptor recently has been shown to mediate p44/42 MAPK activation. This finding opens new questions about the structural and signaling mechanisms that connect the receptor to this alternate cell signaling pathway.
