Marangoni convection in V-shaped containers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Mathematics, 1992
This paper presents a numerical study of the time evolution of Marangoni convection in two V-shaped containers involved in the microgravity experiments reported in Hoefsloot et al.[7]. First the case of the triangular container with a plane gas/liquid interface is considered, next the container having the shape of a circular sector with a curved ...

Nonstationary Marangoni convection [PDF]

open access: yesApplicationes Mathematicae, 1999
The author studies nonstationary Marangoni convection in a fluid drop bounded by a free surface with surface tension. The fluid motion inside is governed by incompressible Navier-Stokes equations combined with heat equation. Using energy estimates, Rothe method and fixed point argument, the author establishes existence and uniqueness of solution for ...

Marangoni Convection and Fragmentation in LASER Treatment [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Science Forum, 2006
Epitaxial Laser Metal Forming (E-LMF) consists in impinging a jet of metallic powder onto a molten pool formed by controlled laser heating and thereby, generating epitaxially a single crystal deposit onto a single crystal substrate. It is a near net-shape process for rapid prototyping or repair engineering of single crystal high pressure/high ...

Numerical Investigation of Bubble‐induced Marangoni Convection [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2009
The liquid motion induced by surface tension variation, termed the thermocapillary or Marangoni effect, and its contribution to boiling heat transfer has long been a very controversial issue. In the past this convection was not the subject of much attention because, under terrestrial conditions, it is superimposed by the strong buoyancy convection ...

Free Surface Motion of a Liquid Pool with Isothermal Sidewalls as a Benchmark for Marangoni Convection Problems

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
In single phase flows, benchmarks like the lid driven cavity have become recognized as fundamental tests for newly developed computational fluid dynamics, CFD, codes.

Sub‐Terahertz Memristor Switches Using MoS2 by Liquid–Liquid Interface Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces application‐ready sub‐terahertz memristor switches fabricated from electrochemically exfoliated MoS2 nanosheets assembled at a liquid–liquid interface. The devices exhibit robust unipolar resistive switching, low insertion loss, and high isolation across 10–110 GHz.

Effects of Controller and Nonuniform Temperature Profile on the Onset of Rayleigh-Bénard-Marangoni Electroconvection in a Micropolar Fluid

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
Linear stability analysis is performed to study the effects of nonuniform basic temperature gradients on the onset of Rayleigh-Bénard-Marangoni electroconvection in a dielectric Eringen’s micropolar fluid by using the Galerkin technique.

Femtosecond‐Laser‐Induced Physical Unclonable Random Maze Structure for Storage‐Free Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Femtosecond‐laser‐induced gold random maze structures serve as multimodal physical unclonable functions for storage‐free encryption. Their stochastic optical, electrical, and Raman responses are generated by plasmon‐assisted Marangoni formation and converted into AES‐compatible keys without permanent secret‐key storage, offering a portable route toward

Bénard-Marangoni Convection in Two-Layered Liquids [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2000
We describe experiments on B{é}nard-Marangoni convection in horizontal layers of two immiscible liquids. Unlike previous experiments, which used gases as the upper fluid, we find a square planform close to onset which undergoes a secondary bifurcation to rolls at higher temperature differences. The scale of the convection pattern is that of the thinner
