Acute toxicity of two pyrethroid insecticides for five non-indigenous crayfish species in Europe
Pyrethroid insecticides are highly toxic to many aquatic organisms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the toxicity of the commercial products Cyperkill 25 EC (active compound 250 g/l cypermethrin) and Decis Mega (active compound 50 g/l deltamethrin ...

This study investigates the evolutionary and biogeographic history of the palmate newt (Lissotriton helveticus) by generating a genomic dataset from over 200 specimens across the entire distribution range of the species. ABSTRACT Quaternary glacial cycles have been key drivers of diversification for Holarctic species, promoting divergence, isolation ...

DNA methylation in the marbled crayfish Procambarus virginalis [PDF]
The all-female marbled crayfish Procambarus virginalis is a freshwater crayfish which is the only known obligatory parthenogen among the decapod crustaceans. Marbled crayfish are recent descendants of the sexually reproducing slough crayfish Procambarus fallax and have most likely emerged through a recent evolutionary macromutation event in P.

Marbled crayfish Procambarus virginalis invades a nature reserve: how to stop further introductions?
We hereby provide the first documented data on the occurrence of a viable Procambarus virginalis population in a nature reserve in Poland and the steps that were taken to prevent further introductions of the species in the country.

eDNA‐Based Detection of Invasive Crayfish and Crayfish Plague in Estonia
Our study explored the potential of integrating the eDNA approach into ongoing annual monitoring programs for invasive crayfish species and A. astaci. Crayfish eDNA was detected in 9 out of 14 water bodies where presence was confirmed by trapping, yielding 64% detection efficiency. eDNA from A.

SmartScreen‐AIS: A High‐Throughput qPCR Chip for Nationwide Surveillance of Aquatic Invasive Species
We present a high‐throughput qPCR chip with 46 assays for early detection of aquatic invasive species. It was validated for use throughout the continental United States and can be subdivided into smaller assay panels as needed for specific regions or biomes.

Pharmaceutically active compounds are common and increasing in the aquatic environment. Evidence suggests they have adverse effects on non-target organisms, and they are classified as emerging pollutants for a variety of aquatic organisms.

A five‐step integrated modeling framework combines remote sensing and two‐dimensional hydraulic modeling to describe mesohabitats and assess suitability for target species. Remote sensing provides a Digital Terrain Model and an orthophoto (step 1) that can be used to classify and map environmental descriptors such as substrate and refugia (step 2).

Neurogenesis in the brain of the Marbled crayfish
The main aim of the project was to study the formation of the main brain scaffold and the mechanisms underlying this process. The brain forms during embryogenesis from an initial thin layer of cells (neuroectoderm) that unfolds into a three dimensional complex structure.
