ABSTRACT Background Rhodococcus equi–specific hyperimmune plasma (Re‐HIP) is routinely administered to neonatal foals to help prevent rhodococcal pneumonia. In addition to pathogen‐specific immunoglobulins, frozen plasma products (FPPs) contain electrolytes that may exceed concentrations found in neonatal foal plasma.

MAFF Suppresses Necroptosis in Pancreatic Cancer via the GATA4‐MLKL Axis

MAFF promotes pancreatic cancer progression by acting as a transcriptional repressor of the GATA4‐MLKL axis, thereby inhibiting necroptotic cell death. This study identifies the MAFF‐GATA4‐MLKL pathway as a novel therapeutic target and a significant prognostic biomarker for pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Characterization of Lipase in Mare Milk

Abstract High lipase activity was in mare milk. This activity had characteristics of a lipoprotein lipase, blood serum dependence, thermolability, and sodium chloride sensitivity. The apparent Michaelis constant of this enzyme was .21m M with activated intralipid triglycerides as a substrate. Lipase activity was not affected significantly by heparin.

Behavior, Milk Yield, and Milk Composition of Machine-and Hand-Milked Murgese Mares [PDF]

A 25-d trial was performed to assess the effects of machine and hand milking on behavior, and milk yield and composition of mares; the trial involved 8 Murgese mares. Milk yield was higher (7.69 vs. 4.91 kg) and milking time was shorter (1.80 vs. 5.40 min) in machine-milked than in hand-milked mares.
