Bulk filling of Class II cavities with a dual-cure composite: effect of curing mode and enamel etching on marginal adaptation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Objectives: This study attempted to find a simple adhesive restorative technique for class I and II cavities on posterior teeth. Study Design: The tested materials were a self-etching adhesive (Parabond, Coltène/Whaledent) and a dual-cure composite ...

Inpatient Food Insecurity and Pediatric Hematology Oncology Hospitalization Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children with cancer and blood disorders are at risk for food insecurity (FI). We aimed to describe the association of inpatient food insecurity (IFI) and hospitalization outcomes among patients admitted to the pediatric hematology oncology service. Of 325 caregivers screened for IFI, 60 (18.6%) screened positive.

Marginal and internal adaptation of esthetic crowns for primary molars: an in-vitro study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Purpose To assess the marginal and internal adaptation of the prefabricated esthetic crowns for primary molars. Methods Eighty human primary mandibular second molars were distributed into four groups: stainless steel crowns (SS), preveneered stainless ...

Dynamic Distribution Adaptation Based Transfer Network for Cross Domain Bearing Fault Diagnosis

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2021
In machinery fault diagnosis, labeled data are always difficult or even impossible to obtain. Transfer learning can leverage related fault diagnosis knowledge from fully labeled source domain to enhance the fault diagnosis performance in sparsely labeled

Effect of Margin Designs on the Marginal Adaptation of Zirconia Copings

open access: yesActa Stomatologica Croatica, 2017
The aim of this in vitro study was to investigate the effect of Shoulder versus Chamfer margin design on the marginal adaptation of zirconia (Zr) copings.40 extracted molar teeth were mounted in resin and prepared for zirconia crowns with two margin preparation designs (20=Shoulder and 20=Chamfer).

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Reciprocal transplants support a plasticity-first scenario during colonisation of a large hyposaline basin by a marine macro alga [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Establishing populations in ecologically marginal habitats may require substantial phenotypic changes that come about through phenotypic plasticity, local adaptation, or both.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Immediate versus water-storage performance of Class V flowable composite restoratives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Objectives The aims of this investigation were to clarify the effects of 24 h water-storage and finishing time on mechanical properties and marginal adaptation to a Class V cavity of eight modern flowable resin-composites.
