Inpatient Food Insecurity and Pediatric Hematology Oncology Hospitalization Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children with cancer and blood disorders are at risk for food insecurity (FI). We aimed to describe the association of inpatient food insecurity (IFI) and hospitalization outcomes among patients admitted to the pediatric hematology oncology service. Of 325 caregivers screened for IFI, 60 (18.6%) screened positive.

Marginal and Interaction Effects in Ordered Response Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In discrete choice models the marginal effects of a variable that is interacted with another variable and the interaction term differ from the marginal effect of a variable that is not interacted with any variable. Standard software incorrectly estimates

Feasibility and Safety of High‐Dose Proton Re‐Irradiation in Recurrent Pediatric Central Nervous System Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Exploring cycling flow dynamics and their interaction with built environment features: evidence from bike-sharing data

open access: yesGeo-spatial Information Science
Understanding urban travel patterns through the lens of flow space is essential for analyzing urban structures and their dynamics. Cycling flows, in particular, offer valuable insights into these patterns.

Marginal Zinc Deficiency Aggravated Intestinal Barrier Dysfunction and Inflammation through ETEC Virulence Factors in a Mouse Model of Diarrhea

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2022
Zinc is both essential and inhibitory for the pathogenesis of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). However, the accurate effects and underlying mechanism of marginal zinc deficiency on ETEC infection are not fully understood.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Effects of 2D/3D Urban Morphology on Cooling Effect Diffusion of Urban Rivers in Summer: A Case Study of Huangpu River in Shanghai

open access: yesLand
The diffusion effect of river cooling is critical for mitigating the urban heat island effect in riverside areas and for establishing an urban cooling network. River cooling effect diffusion is influenced by the two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional
