Inspired by natural silicified wood, a biomimetic mineralized chitin‐derived aerogel is constructed. It can withstand 81 000 times its own weight, and its backside temperature is 130.4°C after exposure to ∼1300°C butane flame for 600 s, exhibiting high‐strength, fire‐resistance, and super thermal‐insulation properties.

Enhancing the utility of freshwater mussel (Pilsbryoconcha sp.) Shell waste as an abrasive substance in toothpaste [PDF]
Untapped potential lies in the solid waste of freshwater mussel shells. Indeed, the shells possess a substantial amount of calcium. Valorization is essential for enhancing added value by utilizing calcium as an abrasive ingredient in toothpaste.

This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...
