Coordination of Cyanobacterial Nitrate Assimilation and Photosynthesis by a Novel PsbO‐Interacting Protein PirN

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PirN was identified as a previously uncharacterized PsbO‐interacting protein specifically induced in nitrate‐grown cyanobacteria. Loss of PirN leads to coordinated downregulation of PsbO and the nitrate reductase NarB, causing decreased PSII activity and impaired growth under nitrate conditions. Complementation with either PsbO or NarB largely restores

A first sighting report of six fishes from the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, South Andaman, India

open access: yesJournal of Threatened Taxa, 2015
From the fish and fisheries point of view, the Andaman and Nicobar islands are the  most interesting and fascinating owing to a diversity of ichthyofauna occurring in the varied marine habitats, such as  mangroves, creeks, rocky beaches, extensive sandy ...

Single‐Atom Pt Anchoring on Self‐Doped ZrO2@G‐C3N4 Nanostructure Enables Efficient Photocatalytic Seawater Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Grain‐like Zr3+‐ZrO2 and Pt single atoms are integrated into an S‐scheme Zr3+‐ZrO2@g‐C3N4 heterostructure to enable efficient visible‐light‐driven seawater hydrogen production. The combined effect of Pt single‐atom sites and the S‐scheme charge‐transfer pathway accelerates carrier separation, preserves strong redox ability, and markedly enhances ...

A Comparison of Detour Behaviors in Some Marine and Freshwater Fish Species

open access: yesAnimals
Evidence of detour ability to reach a salient goal in marine fishes (Chromis viridis, Chrysiptera parasema, Dascyllus aruanus) and freshwater fishes (Xenotoca eiseni, Danio rerio) has been observed using a “four-compartment box task” with an opaque ...

Heavy metal analyses and nutritional composition of raw and smoked fishes from Ologe and Lagos Lagoon, Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2016
This study was conducted to evaluate nutritional composition and heavy metals concentration of smoked and raw edible fish species from Ologe lagoon (freshwater) and Lagos lagoon (marine). The fish species from Ologe include: Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus (

Genetic Control of Tissue Remodeling by a Non‐Coding SNP in ITGA8 Explains Carotenoid‐Based Color Polymorphism in Marine Mollusks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, the orange‐muscle giant abalone (Haliotis gigantea) is used as a model to identify a non‐coding SNP that disrupts the interaction between ITGA8 pre‐mRNA and the splicing factor ILF2, leading to altered ITGA8 splicing. These splicing changes promote carotenoid accumulation in abalone muscle through the regulation of tissue remodeling ...

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

Ultrasound‐Activated Bifunctional Piezoelectric Hydrogel Dressings Promote Infected Wound Healing via Regulating Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a double‐network hydrogel with piezoelectric properties, exhibiting excellent antibacterial activity and promoting fibroblast migration, angiogenesis, and lymphangiogenesis through piezoelectric stimulation, thereby accelerating the healing of infected chronic wounds.

Complete mitochondrial DNA genomes for two northeast Pacific mesopelagic fishes, the Mexican lampfish (Triphoturus mexicanus) and black-belly dragonfish (Stomias atriventer)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
Mesopelagic fishes are an important component of marine ecosystems, providing an important link between lower and higher trophic levels. This group of fishes is also highly abundant and make up a large portion of the marine vertebrate biomass.
