Abstract There is a growing interest in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) aquaculture to extend the time fish are reared in freshwater (FW) recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), producing larger FW salmon that can then be induced to undergo smoltification before transfer into marine net pens for grow‐out and harvest.

Lymphocystis Disease in Endemic Aotearoa New Zealand Bully (Gobiomorphus cotidianus)

ABSTRACT We detected lymphocystis disease virus (LCDV) for the first time in an Aotearoa New Zealand freshwater environment, from an individual common bully, toitoi, Gobiomorphus cotidianus (Eleotridae). Dinah's bully, Gobiomorphus dinae, and Kaharore bully, Gobiomorphus mataraerore, also exhibited gross nodular lesions on the fins but were not sampled.

ABSTRACT Two brown organic deposits were encountered whilst investigating kaolinitic claystones thought to occur at the base of a Cambrian formation at outcrop. The age of these organic deposits is probably Paleocene from palynology. Organic petrography shows that they are subbituminous coals with some oil source potential.
