Interfacially Engineered Alginate/Hydroxyapatite Biocomposites With High Strength and Toughness

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Pre‐crosslinking alginate with Ca2+ prior to hydroxyapatite (HAP) formation reduces residual Ca2+ bridging and promotes stronger carboxylate‐hydroxyapatite interfacial interactions, yielding composites with markedly higher strength, stiffness, and toughness than those prepared by the opposite sequence.

Development of Biodegradable Talc‐Filled PBAT/PLA and PBSA/PBAT Binary Blend Films: Effects of Multilayer Architecture and Uniaxial Orientation on Performance

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
PBAT‐based PLA and PBSA blend films were developed in single‐ and tri‐layer structures with talc and processed via blown film extrusion followed by uniaxial stretching. Multilayer design and MDO significantly enhanced mechanical strength, stiffness, barrier, and UV resistance through chain orientation and strain‐induced crystallization.

Roll‐to‐Roll Processing of Biodegradable Multilayer Barrier Packaging Structures

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that novel packaging materials built using biobased and biodegradable materials can be produced in pilot‐scale and converted into functional barrier packaging. The proposed structures are anticipated to make a strong impact in use‐cases where the risk of environmental littering is elevated, such as snacks and take away meals ...

Is the Plastic Waste Trade a Barrier to Sustainable Development? Empirical Evidence From RCEP Countries

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There is widespread consensus on the threats that plastic waste poses to the environment. A significant obstacle to sustainable development, the trade in plastic waste may contribute to plastic pollution. The objective of this research is to look at how the import and export of plastic waste affect the sustainable development of Regional ...
