Computational Studies of Marine Toxins Targeting Ion Channels
Toxins from marine animals offer novel drug leads for treatment of diseases involving ion channels. Computational methods could be very helpful in this endeavour in several ways, e.g., (i) constructing accurate models of the channel-toxin complexes using

Emerging marine biotoxins [PDF]
The emergence of marine and freshwater toxins in geographical areas where they have never been reported before is a concern due to the considerable impact on (sea)food contamination, and consequently, on public health. Several groups of marine biotoxins,

Photo‐Switchable Molecular Module Programming PET Biodegradation in Aquatic Environments
We address the plastic durability paradox by integrating an itaconic acid–derived pyrrolidone module into polymer backbones. Sunlight in water triggers Norrish Type I ring‐opening and hydrophilization, enabling rapid biodegradation into nontoxic minerals.

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

Determinations of Marine Toxins in Foods
Abstract Prospects of new analytical methods for determining marine toxins in foods are described. The methods discussed include fluorometric liquid chromatography, cytotoxicity assays, channel binding assays, and enzyme-immunoassays. Emphasis was laid on assay methods for ciguatoxins and diarrhetric shellfish toxins.

Paralytic Shellfish Toxins of Pyrodinium bahamense (Dinophyceae) in the Southeastern Gulf of Mexico
In September and November 2016, eight marine sampling sites along the coast of the southeastern Gulf of Mexico were monitored for the presence of lipophilic and hydrophilic toxins.

Sustainable and Multifunctional Natural Macromolecular Polymers for Aqueous Zn Metal Batteries
We comprehensively review the structure‐function relationships and regulatory mechanism of natural macromolecular polymers in stabilizing zinc anodes at the microscopic and mesoscopic scales. The interactions among polymer structures, optimization strategies, and regulatory mechanisms are discussed systematically summarizing recent related research ...

Amphiphilic non‐isocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) coatings containing reactive hydrophobic poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) and hydrophilic methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG) prepolymers for marine antifouling (AF) and fouling‐release (FR) applications were investigated. The coatings were evaluated with a set of representative marine foulants.

Current Research Status of Azaspiracids
The presence and impact of toxins have been detected in various regions worldwide ever since the discovery of azaspiracids (AZAs) in 1995. These toxins have had detrimental effects on marine resource utilization, marine environmental protection, and ...
