Co-phonology vs. Indexed constraint theory: a case study of Perak dialect partial reduplication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents co-phonologies and indexed constraint theory developed within Optimality theory (Prince and Smolensky, 1993) to account for partial reduplication in Perak dialect of Malay.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Marked or unmarked, that is not the question. The question is: where’s the theme? Marked or unmarked, that is not the question. The question is: where’s the theme?

open access: yesIlha do Desterro, 2008
The definition of theme is not entirely uncontroversial within systemic linguistics. Furthermore, the application of the notion of theme to languages other than English is even more problematic.

The Syncategorematic Nature of Neo-Aramaic and English Antonyms

open access: yesLinguistic Discovery, 2018
Antonyms have always been considered the starting point for language learners; therefore, they are familiar cross-linguistically. In this research, we try to provide a semantic description of antonymy in Neo-Aramaic (a member of the Semitic family) as it

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Covert contrast as a developmental stage in L2 phonology: evidence from Arabic emphatics

open access: yesCogent Arts & Humanities
This study examines covert contrasts—acoustically distinct yet imperceptible phonemic differences—in English-speaking learners of Modern Standard Arabic, focusing on /tˤ/–/t/ and /sˤ/–/s/.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Coseriu et Hjelmslev sur la théorie de la marque. Éléments pour continuer le dialogue

open access: yesHistoire Épistémologie Langage
One may rightly assume that Eugenio Coseriu’s integral linguistics and Louis Hjelmslev’s glossematics represent two keys to a mutual understanding. On the one hand, Coseriu’s criticism towards certain aspects of glossematics proves useful for better ...
