Morphological features and mechanics of destruction of materials with different structures under impact drop cyclic loading

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
The process of erosion destruction of steels with austenitic, sorbitol and martensitic structure under the influence of high-speed liquid-drop collisions is studied.

Evaluating creep rupture life in austenitic and martensitic steels with soft-constrained machine learning

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Machine learning is extensively utilized for predicting creep rupture of high-temperature steels. Recently, five soft-constrained machine learning algorithms (SCMLAs) have been developed to enhance the extrapolation capabilities of machine learning ...

Prediction of the mechanical behaviour of TRIP steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
TRIP steel typically contains four different phases, ferrite, bainite, austenite and martensite. During deformation the metastable retained austenite tends to transform to stable martensite.

Semi phenomenological modelling of the behavior of TRIP steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The authors are grateful to ArcelorMittal R&D for supporting this research.A new semi-phenomenological model is developed based on a mean-field description of the TRIP behavior for the simulation of multiaxial loads.

Electrochemical and Surface Insights Into X12CrMoWVNbN10‐1‐1 Steel Corrosion in Chloride Solutions at Variable pH

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of X12CrMoWVNbN10‐1‐1 steel in chloride environments dramatically depends on pH. Acidic conditions trigger intense surface degradation, whereas neutral and alkaline media foster the formation of a compact and stable passive film, drastically reducing both general and localized corrosion.

Surface evolution and corrosion behaviour of Cu-doped carbide-reinforced martensitic steels in a sulfuric acid solution

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation, 2021
Cu-doped martensitic steels (Fe–(13, 16)Cr–3W–2Cu–1C) (mass%) with multiple carbide precipitates were prepared at different quenching temperatures, and their corrosion behaviours were examined by measuring the weight loss during immersion in a 0.5 M ...

The martensite phases in 304 stainless steel [PDF]

open access: yesMetallurgical Transactions, 1970
A detailed analysis of martensite transformations in 18/8 (304) stainless steel, utilizing transmission electron microscopy and diffraction in conjunction with X-ray and magnetization techniques, has established that the sequence of transformation is γ → ∈ → α. e is a thermodynamically stable hcp phase whose formation is greatly enhanced as a result of

A theoretical review of the operation of vibratory stress relief with particular reference to the stabilization of large-scale fabrications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Vibratory stress relief (VSR) is widely used on large welded fabrications to stabilize the structures so that they do not distort during further machining or during operational duty.

Microstructure‐dependent abrasive wear behavior of metallic alloys under tumbling abrasion Mikrostrukturabhängiges abrasives Verschleißverhalten metallischer Legierungen unter Trommelabrieb

open access: yesMaterialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, EarlyView.
This study assesses the abrasive wear behavior of eight metallic alloys using the SSAB tumbling abrasion test under low‐stress wet grinding with quartz sand and iron ore. Results highlight the role of microstructure—particularly carbide morphology and hardness—in optimizing grinding media for mineral processing applications.

Electrochemical characterization of 13Cr low-carbon martensitic stainless steel - corrosion study with a mini-cell setup

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
13Cr low-carbon martensitic stainless steels also known as supermartensitic stainless steels (SMSS) have superior properties than conventional martensitic stainless steels. The SMSS have better weldability and corrosion resistance.
