Spatio-temporal changes of glaciers, geomorphology, and meteorological influences on debris flow in the alpine environment: insights from a case study in the Hopar Nagar Valley, Northern Pakistan

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk
Alpine environments are becoming increasingly vulnerable to climate change, as retreating glaciers and abrupt weather shifts lead to frequent flooding and debris flows globally.

Modeling of biobasins of an oil refinery wastewater treatment plant [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of BioScience and Biotechnology, 2015
The biobasins of the largest wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on the Balkans has been examined. Samples were taken four times from the inlet and outlet flow. The concentration of the total hydrocarbons, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, p-xylene, m-xylene,

Glacier mass balance Jamtalferner, Silvretta, Austria, 1988/1989

open access: yes, 2013
The glacier mass balance of Jamtalferner has been measured annually since 1988/1989 with the direct/glaciological method. Winter mass balance has been determined for 1 May in all years.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Determination of mass balances and ionic balances in animal manure.

open access: yesNetherlands Journal of Agricultural Science, 1990
Liquid and solid fractions of three different pig slurry samples and a poultry manure sample were isolated through high speed centrifugation followed by ultrafiltration. The gross ionic composition of the liquid manure fractions could be described by: K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, bicarbonate, weakly acidic cations (ammonium) and weakly alkaline anions ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
