The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

PREDECESSORS, YIELD AND QUALITY OF WINTER WHEAT GRAIN IN THE CONDITIONS OF A FOOTHILL PART OF KABARDINO-BALKARIA

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
The priority of grain use is usually determined by its great social significance which allows solving the task of food supply, especially with bread. Winter wheat as a main food crop takes up 38,6% in grain production of KBR and has a major effect on the

Evaluation of the Effects of Cultivar and Location on the Interaction of Lentil Seed Characteristics with Optimal Cooking Time

open access: yesSeeds
The most important product of the lentil crop (Lens culinaris Medik) is the seeds. The main seed characteristics are their size, color, and the cooking time required to make them edible.

Physical properties and mathematical modeling of melon (Cucumis melo L.) seeds and kernels

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Society of Agricultural Sciences, 2017
In the present research, some physical properties of Somsori and Varamin varieties of melon seeds and kernels were studied; three principal dimensions (length, width and thickness) of melon seeds and kernels were measured using image processing technique.

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Limits on the high redshift growth of massive black holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We place firm upper limits on the global accretion history of massive black holes at z>5 from the recently measured unresolved fraction of the cosmic X-ray background.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Effect of cattle manure on sunflower production and water use in two types of soil

open access: yesRevista Ceres, 2013
The aim of the present study was to evaluate water consumption, use efficiency and yield components of sunflower variety Embrapa 122 V/2000 cultivated in two types of soil (Fluvissol and Haplic Luvisol) subjected to increasing doses of cattle manure. The
