Feasibility Study for a Chemical Process Particle Size Characterization System for Explosive Environments Using Low Laser Power

open access: yesMicromachines, 2020
The industrial particle sensor market lacks simple, easy to use, low cost yet robust, safe and fast response solutions. Towards development of such a sensor, for in-line use in micro channels under continuous flow conditions, this work introduces static ...

Thermal accommodation in nanoporous silica for vacuum insulation panels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids, 2020
The thermal accommodation coefficient is a measure for the quality of thermal energy exchange between gas molecules and a solid surface. It is an important parameter to describe heat flow in rarefied gases, for example, in aerospace or vacuum technology.

Design and construction of electron impact ion source controller for Mass spectrometer system [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم و فنون هسته‌ای, 2023
The resolution of a mass spectrometer is dependent directly on the strength of the output ion and its energy. The number of produced ions depends on the current and the energy of the electron beam.

Influence of Refractive Index Differences on the Signal Strength for Raman-Spectroscopic Measurements of Double Emulsion Droplets

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Double emulsions show great potential for encapsulating active substances and protecting them against external influences. However, they tend to become unstable during storage.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
