Climate change and plant reproduction: trends and drivers of mast seeding change

open access: yes
Climate change is reshaping global vegetation through its impacts on plant mortality, but recruitment creates the next generation of plants and will determine the structure and composition of future communities.

The Evolution of Sesame Seed Allergy Over Time

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study analyzes the natural history of sesame over time and the changes in biomarkers between sesame allergic and sesame sensitised but tolerant children. The period prevalence of sesame allergy increased from 0.5% between 12 and 36 m to 1.5% between 7 and 12 y children in the EAT‐On study with 10 children developing new sesame allergy. Sesame‐sIgE

RISK EFFICIENCY OF ALTERNATE CANOLA MANAGEMENT DECISIONS [PDF]

open access: yes
This study evaluates profitability and risk associated with eighteen different management decisions for canola production in Alberta. Expected payoff from cultivar selection outweighs the payoff from time of seeding and from time of weed control ...

Navigating Oral Food Challenges in Clinical Trials to Keep the Science Moving Forward

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The oral food challenge (OFC) has long been the reference standard for food allergy diagnosis, as well as to confirm natural development of oral tolerance. The utilization of OFCs has significantly broadened from its role in defining disease to defining participant eligibility, individual allergen reactivity thresholds and treatment outcomes ...

Optimising the Diagnosis of Sesame Seed Allergy With the Basophil Activation Test

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
The basophil activation test (using the activation marker CD203c) was the only test able to both exclude and confirm sesame seed allergy with precision. A negative skin prick test to sesame extract or tahini and undetectable IgE to Ses i 1 could not rule out sesame seed allergy.

Mast seeding, community dynamics, and tick-borne disease risk in forest ecosystems

open access: yes, 2019
Tick-borne diseases are the most common vector-borne illnesses in the United States, with Lyme disease being the most frequently reported. Due to a warming climate, the incidence rates of tick-borne diseases are projected to increase — a risk exacerbated

Type‐2‐Inflammatory‐Diseases Share Comorbidities, Molecular Signatures, IL4/IL13 Genetics, and Response to IL4/IL13 Blockade

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Studies suggest that type 2 inflammatory diseases are driven by overactivation of the IL4/IL13 pathway, manifesting differently in distinct tissues. We performed quantitative analyses using several large independent datasets to explore the interrelation of type 2 inflammatory diseases based on co‐prevalence, genetic predispositions, and transcriptomic ...
