Testing the mastery concept of self-paced learning in physics

An established course in introductory physics presented according to traditional and Keller plan methods of instruction has been used to study the mastery concept of the self-paced learning method in physics education. The results show that many more students can achieve ’’mastery’’ in a self-paced course than in a traditional course.
