Serological markers for papillomavirus infection and skin tumour development in the rodent model Mastomys coucha

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2010
This study used the rodent Mastomys coucha latently infected with Mastomys natalensis papillomavirus (MnPV) and Mastomys coucha PV2 (McPV2), which induce skin papillomas and anogenital condylomas, respectively, to investigate PV antibody responses as serological markers during pathogenesis.

Setaria digitatamicrofilaraemia inMastomys coucha: an animal model for chemotherapeutic and immunobiological studies

open access: yesParasitology, 1996
SUMMARYIntraperitoneal implantation of adult gravid females of the bovine filarial parasite,Setaria digitatainMastomys couchawas found to induce microfilaraemia lasting for about 125 days. The microfilariae (mf) could be detected as early as 4 days postimplantation (p.i.) and peak levels of about 30 mf in 20 µl of blood were observed by 21 days.

Development of a multilocus sequence tool for typing Cryptosporidium muris and Cryptosporidium andersoni [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Although widely used for the characterization of the transmission of intestinal Cryptosporidium spp., genotyping tools are not available for C. muris and C. andersoni, two of the most common gastric Cryptosporidium spp. infecting mammals.

Identification of cryptic species of rodents (Mastomys, Aethomys, Saccostomus) in the Kruger National Park [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Mastomys natalensis, Aethomys chrysophilus and Saccostomus campestris are three common and widespread rodent species in the Kruger National Park. Chromosomal and protein electrophoretic investigations reveal that these species are in fact complexes of ...

Licht- und elektronenmikroskopische Untersuchungen von Lunge und Pleura der mit Litomosoides sigmodontis infizierten Mastomys coucha

open access: yes, 2003
Histopathological and electron microscopical studies of lung and pleura in Litomosoides sigmodontis infected Mastomys coucha 1. Female Mastomys coucha (strain GRA Giessen) at an age of five weeks were infected with the filarial parasite Litomosoides sigmodontis on the natural route by infected mites (Bdellonyssus bacoti), which were allowed to suck ...

Amplification of rat microsatellite loci in Mastomys coucha Smith, 1836.

open access: yesIndian journal of experimental biology, 2009
The multimammate rat M. coucha is the most widespread strain to be introduced in biomedical research and various stocks of this strain are maintained in laboratories across the globe. It is an ideal carrier of normally non-human disease to the domestic environment. In order to analyze genetic purity, strains of M. coucha were subjected to PCR-based DNA
