Biogas on-farm: energy and material flow [PDF]
Objectives: European countries are committed to reduce CO2 emission originating from fossil fuels. On-farm produced biogas may replace energy produced from fossil fuels and so contribute to achieve the target. Up to now only in Germany a greater number

Evolution of material surfaces in the temporal transition in channel flow
We report a Lagrangian study on the evolution of material surfaces in the K-type temporal transitional channel flow. Based on the Eulerian velocity field from the DNS, a backward-particle-tracking method is applied to solve the transport equation of the ...

Coupled analysis of material flow and die deflection in direct aluminum extrusion [PDF]
The design of extrusion dies depends on the experience of the designer. After the die has\ud been manufactured, it is tested during an extrusion trial and machined several times until it works\ud properly.

A new look at spherical accretion in High Mass X-ray Binaries
Currently used model of spherical accretion onto a magnetized rotating neutron star encounters major difficulties in explaining the entry rate of accreting material into the stellar field and spin evolution of long-period X-ray pulsars.

Shear Flows of Rapidly Flowing Granular Materials [PDF]
Shear flows of granular materials are studied in an open channel. The wall shear is calculated from an open channel momentum equation which includes the density variations in the flow. An experimental technique was developed that allowed the measurement of the average density of the flow at different longitudinal locations in the channel.

Fatigue of friction stir welded 2024-T351 aluminium alloy
Fatigue failure characteristics of friction stir welds in 13mm gauge 2024-T351 plate have been assessed. Failure occurred from either the weld region (nugget/flow arm) or from the material immediately surrounding the weld.
