Linear elastic fracture mechanics predicts the propagation distance of frictional slip [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
When a frictional interface is subject to a localized shear load, it is often (experimentally) observed that local slip events initiate at the stress concentration and propagate over parts of the interface by arresting naturally before reaching the edge.

Harmonic Distortion Optimization for Sigma-Delta Modulators Interface Circuit of TMR Sensors

open access: yesSensors, 2020
The tunneling magnetoresistance micro-sensors (TMR) developed by magnetic multilayer material has many advantages, such as high sensitivity, high frequency response, and good reliability. It is widely used in military and civil fields. This work presents

Unstable behaviour of rocks

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2009
This paper aims to introduce a new non-destructive testing technique in use for detecting the occurrence of material instability and a specific data reduction procedure to access damage accumulation.

Non-linear forced vibration study of axially functionally graded non-uniform beams by using Broyden method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the forced vibration case due to external loading deflection tends to higher value so beam element undergoes the non-linearity behavior. Basically non linearity is categorized into two parts material and geometric non-linearity. Due to large amplitude

Nonlinear electromagnetic response of graphene: Frequency multiplication and the self-consistent-field effects

open access: yes, 2008
Graphene is a recently discovered carbon based material with unique physical properties. This is a monolayer of graphite, and the two-dimensional electrons and holes in it are described by the effective Dirac equation with a vanishing effective mass.

Numerical Simulation of T Joints Constructed from Hollow Steel Sections

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Welded structural hollow sections are becoming increasingly used in contemporary civil engineering buildings. More specific design techniques are needed for connections in steel structures with welded structural hollow sections than for traditional ...

Nonlinear analysis of reinforced and composite columns in fire [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2017
The paper describes a customer project, the objective of which was to develop a software program for the calculation of reinforced concrete and steel/concrete composite columns subjected to various loadings and exposed to normal temperature or to fire ...

Amorphous Order & Non-linear Susceptibilities in Glassy Materials

open access: yes, 2021
We review 15 years of theoretical and experimental work on the non-linear response of glassy systems. We argue that an anomalous growth of the peak value of non-linear susceptibilities is a signature of growing "amorphous order" in the system, with spin-glasses as a case in point.

Charged Pion Energy Reconstruction in the ATLAS Barrel Calorimeter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The intrinsic performance of the ATLAS barrel and extended barrel calorimeters for the measurement of charged pions is presented. Pion energy scans (E = 20, 50, 200, 400 and 1000 GeV) at two pseudo-rapidity points ($\eta$ = 0.3 and 1.3) and ...

Analysis of eigenvalues for problem on the transverse shear crack in material with power defining law

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2007
We research the non-linear eigenvalues problem which appears from the problem of determining the stress-strain state near the transverse shear crack tip in material with power relationship between strains and stresses.
