Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

SUBMERGED FRICTION STIR PROCESSING OF EN AW 7075 ALUMINUM ALLOY

open access: yesNonconventional Technologies Review
Friction stir processing is a process for processing metallic materials that aims to locally modify the microstructure and mechanical properties. Submerged friction stir processing aims to limit the process temperature by using a liquid working medium ...

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Evaluation of Ultrasonic Testing in Rock Material Characterization

open access: yes, 2005
Although ultrasonic testing is simple and nondestructive, its potential has not yet been fully utilized in rock material characterization because the experimental setup and the methodology adopted strongly influence the characteristics of the ultrasonic ...

CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS PROCESSED BY FRICTION STIR PROCESSING (FSP) OR SUBMERGED FRICTION STIR PROCESSING (SFSP)

open access: yesNonconventional Technologies Review
Microstructural stability and submerged properties of aluminium alloys are critical to their integrity and service life in corrosive environments. Submerged friction stir processing (SFSP) and friction stir processing (FSP) have become effective methods

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...
