Controllability study of copper‐tin‐sulphide (Cu3SnS4) material based on the ratio adjustment of Cu to Sn elements

open access: yesMicro & Nano Letters, 2023
The synthesis of pure phase Cu3SnS4 is of great significance for improving its material properties. Here, the control law of Cu and Sn element ratio on the synthesis of pure phase Cu3SnS4 from physical and chemical methods was analyzed through literature

Bayesian Screening: Multi-test Bayesian Optimization Applied to in silico Material Screening [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We present new multi-test Bayesian optimization models and algorithms for use in large scale material screening applications. Our screening problems are designed around two tests, one expensive and one cheap. This paper differs from other recent work on multi-test Bayesian optimization through use of a flexible model that allows for complex, non-linear

Structural and mechanistic basis for the regulation of the chloroplast signal recognition particle by (p)ppGpp

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

Rearrangements and Dilatancy for Sheared Dense Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Constitutive equations are proposed for dense materials, based on the identification of two types of free-volume activated rearrangements associated to shear and compaction. Two situations are studied: the case of an amorphous solid in a stress-strain test, and the case of a lubricant in tribology test.

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Benchmarking Materials Property Prediction Methods: The Matbench Test Set and Automatminer Reference Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present a benchmark test suite and an automated machine learning procedure for evaluating supervised machine learning (ML) models for predicting properties of inorganic bulk materials. The test suite, Matbench, is a set of 13 ML tasks that range in size from 312 to 132k samples and contain data from 10 density functional theory-derived and ...

Unconventional mRNA processing and degradation pathways for the polycistronic yrzI (spyTA) mRNA in Bacillus subtilis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The S1025 peptide is the major antidote to the YrzI toxin, which we renamed here as SpyT (Small Peptide YrzI Toxin) and SpyA (Small Peptide YrzI Antitoxin) (1). Degradation of the toxin–antitoxin spyTA mRNA, either by a translation‐dependent cleavage by the endoribonuclease Rae1 (2) or by direct attack by 3′‐exoribonucleases (3), also contributes to ...

Squaraine Planar-Heterojunction Solar Cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2009
The photovoltaic performance of squaraine-based organic solar cells is investigated. Two squaraine derivatives with extraordinarily high extinction coefficients are used as electron donors in bilayer heterojunctions with fullerene C60 as electron ...

Friction and Wear Behaviour of Graphite Filled Polymer Composites in Hydrogen Environment

open access: yesTribology Online, 2015
High performance polymer composites have been intensively investigated for tribological applications in air, but rarely in hydrogen environment. Author’s previous benchmark of composites in liquid hydrogen (LH2) showed that graphite filled polymers have ...

High-Purity Corundum as Support for Affinity Extractions from Complex Samples

open access: yesSeparations, 2022
Nonporous corundum powder, known as an abrasive material in the industry, was functionalized covalently with protein binders to isolate and enrich specific proteins from complex matrices.
