Maternal Exposure to Amoxicillin and the Risk of Oral Clefts [PDF]
Prior studies have suggested an increased risk of oral clefts after exposure to amoxicillin in early pregnancy, but findings have been inconsistent.Among participants in the Slone Epidemiology Center Birth Defects Study from 1994 to 2008, we identified 877 infants with cleft lip with/without cleft palate and 471 with cleft palate alone.

This study identified Danofloxacin as a novel supporter of the maintenance of mouse embryonic stem cell (ESC) pluripotency. It functions partially by inhibiting HDAC1, which increases specific histone acetylation marks and activates key genes like Tert and Prdm10.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most prevalent birth defect. Ozone and heatwave exposure during pregnancy could increase the risk of adverse birth outcomes. Green space might be associated with beneficial birth outcomes.

A high-fat diet (HFD) is a well-established risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD). Accumulating evidence indicates that maternal nutritional status before and during pregnancy critically influences long-term cardiovascular outcomes in offspring ...

Primary cultures of neuroblasts isolated from the nucleus basalis of Meynert of 12‐weeks‐old human foetuses were prepared. Whole‐cell patch‐clamp recordings were performed by injecting a depolarizing stimulus current (+500 pA; 500 ms), and the membrane voltage recorded; this stimulus current evoked periodic‐like oscillations in membrane voltage ...

Early exposure to toxic metals has a limited effect on blood pressure or kidney function in later childhood, rural Bangladesh. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Chronic exposure to toxic metals such as arsenic and cadmium has been implicated in the development of kidney and cardiovascular diseases but few studies have directly measured exposure during inutero and early child development.

SDF‐1 levels decline significantly with maternal aging. Exogenous supplementation restores meiotic spindle morphology, chromosomal alignment, and mitochondrial function while reducing oxidative stress in aged oocytes. Mechanistically, SDF‐1 enhances autophagic activity to clear accumulated stress granules, thereby rescuing fertilization competence and ...
