Cognitive Functioning in Vorinostat‐Treated Pediatric and Young Adult Patients Over the First 180 Days After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Cognitive and psychological difficulties could negatively interfere with treatment adherence and quality of life before and after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Methods to mitigate these changes may have positive effects on treatment success.

The Psychometric Properties of the Polish-Language Version of the Mathematical Resilience Scale

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Cognition
This study aims to present the psychometric properties of the Polish language version of the Mathematical Resilience Scale (MRS; Kooken et al., 2016), established in a sample of 443 adults.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Math Anxiety Is Related to Math Difficulties and Composed of Emotion Regulation and Anxiety Predisposition: A Network Analysis Study

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2021
Current evidence suggests emotion regulation is an important factor in both math anxiety and math performance, but the interplay between these constructs is unexamined.

The interplay of math anxiety and math competence for later performance

open access: yesSocial Psychology of Education, 2022
AbstractMath anxiety’s negative effects on performance are well-documented. The interplay of math anxiety and mathematical competence regarding later performance is underexplored. We investigated whether math anxiety’s detrimental effects on learning depend on previous mathematical competence.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Self-beliefs mediate math performance between primary and lower secondary school: A large-scale longitudinal cohort study

open access: yesFrontline Learning Research, 2015
It is often argued that enhancement of self-beliefs should be one of the key goals of education. However, very little is known about the relation between self-beliefs and performance when students move from primary to secondary school in highly ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

The Development and Validation of a Revised Version of the Math Anxiety Scale for Young Children

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2016
Although there is an extensive amount of research that examines the relation between math anxiety and math performance in adolescents and adults, little work has focused on this relation in young children.
