A mathematical analysis of the axial anomaly [PDF]
As is well known to physicists, the axial anomaly of the massless free fermion in Euclidean signature is given by the index of the corresponding Dirac operator. We use the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formalism and the methods of equivariant quantization of Costello and Gwilliam to produce a new, mathematical derivation of this result.

Mathematics and conceptual analysis [PDF]
Godel argued that intuition has an important role to play in mathematical epistemology, and despite the infamy of his own position, this opinion still has much to recommend it. Intuitions and folk platitudes play a central role in philosophical enquiry too, and have recently been elevated to a central position in one project for understanding ...

Global Perturbation of Nonlinear Eigenvalues
This paper generalizes the classical theory of perturbation of eigenvalues up to cover the most general setting where the operator surface 𝔏:[a,b]×[c,d]→Φ0(U,V){\mathfrak{L}:[a,b]\times[c,d]\to\Phi_{0}(U,V)}, (λ,μ)↦𝔏(λ,μ){(\lambda,\mu)\mapsto\mathfrak ...

Mathematical analysis of the photoelectric effect [PDF]
We study the photoelectric effect on the example of a simplified model of an atom with a single bound state, coupled to the quantized electromagnetic field. For this model, we show that Einstein's prediction for the photoelectric effect is qualitatively and quantitatively correct to leading order in the coupling parameter.

GROUP CLASSIFICATION FOR A GENERAL NONLINEAR MODEL OF OPTIONS PRICING
We consider a family of equations with two free functional parameters containing the classical Black–Scholes model, Schönbucher–Wilmott model, Sircar–Papanicolaou equation for option pricing as partial cases.

This paper considers the initial-boundary value problem of the one-dimensional full compressible nematic liquid crystal flow problem. The initial density is allowed to touch vacuum, and the viscous and heat conductivity coefficients are kept to be ...

Mathematical analysis of metabolic networks [PDF]
Although its important reaction sequences and cycles have been known for more than 25 years, we are still far from a satisfactory theory of intermediary metabolism. The empirical material is overwhelming and increases every year, but the development of a general conception is still in its infancy, although the conceptual progress of recent years has ...

Mathematical Models for COVID-19 Pandemic: A Comparative Analysis
COVID-19 pandemic represents an unprecedented global health crisis in the last 100 years. Its economic, social and health impact continues to grow and is likely to end up as one of the worst global disasters since the 1918 pandemic and the World Wars ...

An antimicrobial drug recommender system using MALDI-TOF MS and dual-branch neural networks
Timely and effective use of antimicrobial drugs can improve patient outcomes, as well as help safeguard against resistance development. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is currently routinely ...
