Multiple Scattering Model for the Coherent Optical Response of Correlated Disordered Plasmonic Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered plasmonic metasurfaces enable advanced control over light scattering through disorder engineering. A theoretical model based on multiple scattering theory is developed to predict the coherent reflection and transmission of light from disordered metasurfaces with arbitrary pair correlations.

Single Photon Emitters in Monolayer Semiconductors Coupled to Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Nanoantennas on Silica and Gold Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐photon emitters in WSe2 are formed at strain hotspots created by transition metal dichalcogenide (WS2) nanoantennas on dielectric and metallic substrates. Enhanced emission properties and collection efficiencies are achieved experimentally, while numerical optimization predicts fluorescence enhancements of more than four orders of magnitude ...

Inverse Optical Contrast in Metastable GeTe2: An Anomaly Enabling Low‐Loss Phase Change Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
An anomalous optical phase inversion in GeTe2$\mathrm{GeTe_{2}}$ provides a new platform for low‐loss non‐volatile integrated photonics at 1550 nm. The transition from the amorphous state (1) to a metastable vdW−GeTe2$\mathrm{vdW-GeTe_{2}}$ crystalline phase (2) is driven by bandgap widening, resulting in a negative refractive index change (Δn$\Delta ...

Massively Degenerate Coherent Perfect Absorption in Gradient‐Index Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A coherent perfect absorber (CPA) normally operates for only one or very few spatial modes. The CPA proposed here uses a gradient‐index (GRIN) fiber to absorb hundreds of spatial modes at once, its self‐imaging property replacing the bulky free‐space degenerate cavity of earlier designs. An analytic criterion sets how much modal degeneracy is required,

Post‐Deposition Photonic Curing Treatment for Improved Sb2Se3 Photovoltaic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Millisecond‐scale photonic curing overcomes the open‐circuit voltage deficit in Sb2Se3 solar cells by transforming the rear interface. This ultrafast treatment enhances crystallographic texture and smooths the absorber surface, suppressing interfacial recombination and boosting power conversion efficiency to 8.2%.

Basis‐Independent Geometric Phase Modulation in Circularly Birefringent Plasmonic Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Here we introduce a plasmonic metasurface composed of spatially rotated chiral spiral unit cells designed to produce space‐variant circular retardance. This generates a geometric phase ramp equivalent to a blazed grating, leading to polarization dependent diffraction orders in momentum space.

Hyperuniform Disorder in Photonic Crystal Slabs With Intrinsic Non‐Hermiticity

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Light propagation in photonic crystal slabs with imposed hyperuniform disorder is investigated theoretically and numerically. The hyperuniform disorder is imposed by varying the hole size. The photonic crystal is intrinsically non‐Hermitian due to radiative loss, with non‐Hermiticity appearing as a complex effective mass of a quadratic photonic band ...
