Elementary recursive complexity results in real algebraic geometry (Women in Mathematics)

open access: yesElementary recursive complexity results in real algebraic geometry (Women in Mathematics)
I shall discuss two important results in real algebraic geometry - quantifier elimination, proving that the projection of a semi-algebraic set is semi-algebraic - Hilbert 17th problem, proving that a non negative polynomial is always a sum of squares of rational functions from the point of view of effectivity and complexity.

Optimal Transport Autoregression to Forecast High‐Frequency Financial Data Distributions

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Volume 42, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we study the properties and performance of optimal transport autoregression in modeling and forecasting high‐frequency financial data distributions. We build on a class of univariate autoregressive transport models recently proposed in the literature (Zhu and Müller) where the distributional time series dynamics is modeled ...

Three‐Way Data Analysis With Explainable Tucker3 Clustering (XT3Clus)

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Volume 42, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT In an era of increasingly complex data, three‐way arrays capturing information across units, variables and occasions are ubiquitous in fields from chemometrics to finance. However, extracting meaningful and interpretable patterns from such data remain a significant challenge.

Using Hierarchical Bayesian Analysis to Identify At‐Risk Students in Engineering Mathematics Prerequisites

open access: yesComputer Applications in Engineering Education, Volume 34, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Engineering educators need practical methods to identify which students are struggling and which course topics require additional instructional support. This study applies hierarchical Bayesian analysis to student performance data from the ASSISTments 2009 dataset containing 446,844 responses from 4151 students across 110 mathematical skills ...
