Detecting K‐Theory by Cyclic Homology [PDF]
We discuss which part of the rationalized algebraic K‐theory of a group ring is detected via trace maps to Hochschild homology, cyclic homology, periodic cyclic or negative cyclic homology. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification 19D55.

A resolution of the K(2)-local sphere at the prime 3 [PDF]
We develop a framework for displaying the stable homotopy theory of the sphere, at least after localization at the second Morava K-theory K(2). At the prime 3, we write the spectrum LK(2)S 0 as the inverse limit of a tower of fibrations with four layers.

Some Frechet algebras for which the Chern character is an isomorphism [PDF]
Using similarities between topological K-theory and periodic cyclic ho- mology we show that, after tensoring with C, for certain Frechet algebras the Chern character provides an isomorphism between these functors.

We develop a generalization of the classical Chow groups in order to have available some standard properties for homology theories: long exact sequences, spectral sequences for brations, homotopy invariance and intersections.

D-Brane Instantons and K-Theory Charges [PDF]
We discuss some physical issues related to the K-theoretic classification of D-brane charges, putting an emphasis on the role of D-brane instantons.

D-branes and bivariant K-theory [PDF]
We review various aspects of the topological classification of D-brane charges in K-theory, focusing on techniques from geometric K-homology and Kasparov's KK-theory.

Strong shift equivalence theory and the shift equivalence problem
. This paper discusses strong shift equivalence and counterexamples to the long standing Shift Equivalence Problem in symbolic dynamics. We also discuss how strong shift equivalence theory is closely related to areas of mathematics outside dynamics such ...

In most systems the degree of order increases monotonically with decreasing temperature. Here we report that due to unfavourable dipole interactions within the smectic layers, the lamellar structure of a liquid crystal may be spontaneously destroyed by the development of polar, ferroelectric order.

PerFluoroAlkyl Substances (PFAS) are responsible of major and persistent environmental pollution worldwide. This work demonstrates an ultra‐sensitive sensor for PFAS based on an organic transistor whose gate is functionalized with a binary self‐assembled monolayer containing a perfluorinated molecule.
