Synthesis of wild orchid trade and demography provides new insight on conservation strategies

open access: yesConservation Letters, 2020
Illegal wildlife trade represents a global conservation priority, but the booming illegal trade in wild plants remains understudied. We use the Mexican orchid trade to illustrate an interdisciplinary approach to provide novel insight on conservation ...

STAR-MATRIX MODELS [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 1995
The star-matrix models are difficult to solve due to the multiple powers of the Vandermonde determinants in the partition function. We apply to these models a modified Q-matrix aprpoach and we get results consistent with those obtained by other methods.

Fermionic Matrix Models [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 1997
We review a class of matrix models whose degrees of freedom are matrices with anti-commuting elements. We discuss the properties of the adjoint fermion one-matrix, two-matrix and gauge-invariant D-dimensional matrix models at large N and compare them with their bosonic counterparts, which are the more familiar Hermitian matrix models.

Matrix Models as Solvable Glass Models [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1995
We present a family of solvable models of interacting particles in high dimensionalities without quenched disorder. We show that the models have a glassy regime with aging effects. The interaction is controlled by a parameter $p$. For $p=2$ we obtain matrix models and for $p>2$ `tensor' models.

Matrix models and parquet approximation

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2011
In this work we consider the comparison of planar and planar parquet approximations for zero-dimensional hermitian matrix models. We discuss how the parquet approach reproduces planar one for matrix model φ4, multi-trace model, two-matrix model and the ...

On Products of Random Matrices

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
We introduce a family of models, which we name matrix models associated with children’s drawings—the so-called dessin d’enfant. Dessins d’enfant are graphs of a special kind drawn on a closed connected orientable surface (in the sky).

Integrability and Matrix Models [PDF]

open access: yesUspekhi Fizicheskih Nauk, 1994
The theory of matrix models is reviewed from the point of view of its relation to integrable hierarchies. Discrete 1-matrix, 2-matrix, ``conformal'' (multicomponent) and Kontsevich models are considered in some detail, together with the Ward identites (``W-constraints''), determinantal formulas and continuum limits, taking one kind of models into ...

Generalized Fuzzy Torus and its Modular Properties

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2013
We consider a generalization of the basic fuzzy torus to a fuzzy torus with non-trivial modular parameter, based on a finite matrix algebra. We discuss the modular properties of this fuzzy torus, and compute the matrix Laplacian for a scalar field.
