Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Demography and structures population of Actinostemon concolor (Spreng.) Müll. Arg. (Euphorbiaceae) in flooded areas in Southern Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2013
The aim of this work was to analyze the size and spatial structures and demography of Actinostemon concolor (Spreng.) Müll. Arg. (Euphorbiaceae) in the flooded areas of Mata dos Godoy State Park.

Interpolating matrix models for WLZZ series

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2023
We suggest a two-matrix model depending on three (infinite) sets of parameters which interpolates between all the models proposed in Wang et al. (Eur Phys J C 82:902, arXiv:2206.13038 , 2022) and defined there through W-representations.

Unitary Matrix Models and Phase Transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We study the unitary matrix model with a topological term. We call the topological term the theta term. In the symmetric model there is the phase transition between the strong and weak coupling regime at $\lambda_{c}=2$. If the Wilson term is bigger than

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Matrix scaffolds for endometrium-derived organoid models

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
The uterus-lining endometrium is essential to mammalian reproduction, receiving and accommodating the embryo for proper development. Despite its key role, mechanisms underlying endometrial biology (menstrual cycling, embryo interaction) and disease are ...

Manifestly T-Duality Symmetric Matrix Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We present a new class of matrix models which are manifestly symmetric under the T-duality transformation of the target space. The models may serve as a nonperturbative regularization for the T-duality symmetry in continuum string theory.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Matrix models at large charge

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We show that the large-charge formalism can be successfully applied to models that go beyond the vector models discussed so far in the literature. We study the explicit example of a conformal SU(3) matrix model in 2+1 space-time dimensions at fixed ...
