A deflation method for regular matrix pencils

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2011
A matrix pencil \(\lambda Y-X\) of order \(m\) is called an eigenpencil of a matrix pencil \(\lambda B-A\) or order \(n>m\) if there exist \(n\times m\) matrices \(V\) and \(W\) of rank \(m\) such that \((\lambda B-A)V=W(\lambda Y-X)\). The authors show that, if an eigenpencil is known, it may be used to extend the Wielandt deflation for regular matrix

Matrix pencil method and its performance

ICASSP-88., International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
A novel method called matrix pencil method for estimating poles or frequencies from exponentially damped or undamped sinusoidal sequences is presented as an alternative to either the ESPRIT or pencil-of-functions method. A singular generalized eigenvalue problem in this method is solved in several different ways.

Combinatorial Analysis of Generic Matrix Pencils

2005
This paper investigates the Kronecker canonical form of matrix pencils under the genericity assumption that the set of nonzero entries is algebraically independent. We provide a combinatorial characterization of the sums of the row/column indices supported by efficient bipartite matching algorithms. We also give a simple alternative proof for a theorem

Nearest “Unstable” Matrix Pencil to a Given Pencil

1991
We aim to generalize the concept of “distance to instability” for matrices to matrix pencils. Difficulties arise since infinitesimal perturbations can destroy the Kronecker canonical form of the pencil. If perturbations are constrained so that the structure of the pencil is retained, then there exist maximal finite perturbations such that the finite ...

A Pencil Approach for Embedding a Polynomial Matrix into a Unimodular matrix

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1988
Starting from the idea that the embedding problem of a polynomial matrix can be transformed to one of embedding a pencil derived from the polynomial matrix, the authors show how the latter problem can easily be solved via the staircase algorithm of pencils and give a computational procedure.

2018
The paper focuses on the problem of increasing the accuracy of radar measurements of the elevation angle of the low-altitude targets over the sea. The Matrix Pencil method, as one of the means to resolve this problem, is studied in the paper. This method refers to the methods of high spectral resolution, but in a number of publications, the possibility
