The Application of the Combined Fission Matrix Theory in Fast Reactors

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2021
The combined fission matrix theory is a recently-developed hybrid neutron transport method. It features high efficiency, fidelity, and resolution whole-core transport calculation. The theory is based on the assumption that the fission matrix element ai,j

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Random Matrix Theory, Chiral Perturbation Theory, and Lattice Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Recently, the chiral logarithms predicted by quenched chiral perturbation theory have been extracted from lattice calculations of hadron masses. We argue that the deviations of lattice results from random matrix theory starting around the so-called ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

A Further Stability Analysis of Neutral Systems With Multiple Time-Varying Delays

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper makes some significant contributions to global stability problems of linear neutral systems involving multiple time delay terms in states and multiple neutral delay terms in the time derivative of the states of the system.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Transverse Fivebranes in Matrix Theory

open access: yes, 2007
M-theory on the maximally supersymmetric plane wave background of eleven-dimensional supergravity admits spherical BPS transverse M5-branes with zero light-cone energy.

Schwarzschild Black Holes from Matrix Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We consider Matrix theory compactified on T^3 and show that it correctly describes the properties of Schwarzschild black holes in 7+1 dimensions, including the energy-entropy relation, the Hawking temperature and the physical size, up to numerical ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
