Dental Implants Can Facilitate Orthognathic Surgery in a Patient With Severe Maxillary Atrophy
Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2019The surgical treatment of dentofacial deformities is performed routinely and predictably in dentate patients. However, when dealing with the edentulous maxilla, treatment becomes more challenging and less predictable. [A modified technique of ridge reconstruction in extreme maxillary atrophy].
Deutsche Zeitschrift fur Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichts-Chirurgie, 1992A ridge augmentation procedures for extremely atrophied upper jaws is presented. Compared with the use of a bone graft alone, the permanent integration of a titanium mesh reduces the loss of vertical dimension by resorption to a minimum. This is confirmed by the results of three reconstructed ridges that were followed up for 3 years.

[A dental CT study for preoperative assessment of maxillary atrophy].
Aktuelle Radiologie, 1994According to a new technology in the planning of endo-osseous implantation, based on a new CT-software for evaluation of the bone structure of the jaws, anatomico-morphological changes after the loss of teeth are measured much more accurately than with conventional methods like the panoramic intraoral x-ray or conventional tomography.

Long-term results with autogenous onlay grafts in maxillary and mandibular atrophy.
Journal of long-term effects of medical implants, 1999This paper describes onlay graft procedures and discusses the technical considerations involved in one- or two-stage implant placement. The results of a 5-year clinical experience with such procedures are reported. Intra- and extraoral donor sites were used to harvest cortico-cancellous grafts: 25 patients were treated with chin monocortical grafts, 8 ...
