Maximum Entropy in Drug Discovery
Drug discovery applies multidisciplinary approaches either experimentally, computationally or both ways to identify lead compounds to treat various diseases. While conventional approaches have yielded many US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved

Objective Orofacial manifestations are significantly impactful in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) yet remain understudied, with no dedicated clinical guidelines to inform their management. Methods An international online survey comprised38 questions addressing orofacial manifestations of SSc, including patients’ confidence in their treating ...

Estimation of Cost Allocation Coefficients at the Farm Level Using an Entropy Approach [PDF]
This paper aims to estimate the farm cost allocation coefficients from whole farm input costs. An entropy approach was developed under a Tobit formulation and was applied to a sample of farms from the 2004 FADN data base for Alentejo region, Southern ...

Maximum Entropy Principle in Deep Thermalization and in Hilbert-Space Ergodicity
We report universal statistical properties displayed by ensembles of pure states that naturally emerge in quantum many-body systems. Specifically, two classes of state ensembles are considered: those formed by (i) the temporal trajectory of a quantum ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

The evolutionary approach to entropy: Reconciling Georgescu-Roegen's natural philosophy with the maximum entropy framework [PDF]
In Georgescu-Roegen's classical, though controversial discussion of entropy in relation to economics, the dualism of mechanical and subjective time plays a pivotal role.

Why is life? An assessment of the thermodynamic properties of dissipative, pattern-forming systems [PDF]
This document charts a series of investigations into some basic questions concerning the relationship between life and the physical theories of thermodynamics.

Maximum entropy principle revisited [PDF]
We study the effect of the Maximum Entropy Principle (MEP) on the thermodynamic behaviour of gases. The MEP relies on the kinetic theory of gases and yields the local constitutive equations of Extended Thermodynamics.
