New Technique of Near Maximum Likelihood Detection Processes
This paper introduces new detector named newly adaptively designed near maximum likelihood detector (NADD). This detector combines adaptively three types of near maximum likelihood detectors, pseudobinary, pseudoquaternary, and pseudooctonary.

Maximum likelihood difference scaling
We present a stochastic model of suprathreshold perceptual differences based on difference measurement. We develop a maximum likelihood difference scaling (MLDS) method for estimating its parameters and evaluate the reliability and distributional robustness of the fitting method.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Penalized maximum likelihood for multivariate Gaussian mixture
In this paper, we first consider the parameter estimation of a multivariate random process distribution using multivariate Gaussian mixture law. The labels of the mixture are allowed to have a general probability law which gives the possibility to ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Maximum Likelihood Decoder for Variable Length Codes
Variable Length Codes (VLC) are used to transfer same amount of digital information in relatively short period of time. In variable length coding, the characters with higher probability of occurrence are assigned shorter bits sequence and the characters

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

MLDS: Maximum Likelihood Difference Scaling in R
The MLDS package in the R programming language can be used to estimate perceptual scales based on the results of psychophysical experiments using the method of difference scaling.
