Maximum power point tracker for a photovoltaic system

2012 International Conference on Computing, Electronics and Electrical Technologies (ICCEET), 2012
The need for renewable energy sources is on the rise because of the acute energy crisis in the world today. The main hindrance for the penetration and reach of solar PV system is its low efficiency and high capital cost. The output characteristics of photovoltaic arrays are nonlinear and change with the cell's temperature and solar radiation.

Maximum power point trackers for wind turbines

2004 IEEE 35th Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37551), 2005
Maximum power point tracking methods are presented whereby the loading on the wind turbine is controlled to ensure that the maximum available energy from the wind is captured. The wind turbine system is modelled and used in simulations to evaluate two proposed maximum power point trackers, named anemometer control and calculation control for the ...

Photo-voltaic power converter with a simple maximum-power-point-tracker

Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003
A simple power conditioner to convert the power available from solar panels for feeding into 60 Hz AC mains is described. The output from the solar panels will be converted into a regulated DC voltage using a boost converter and a large capacitor. The DC output will then be converted to 60 Hz AC using a bridge inverter.

Photovoltaic Maximum Power Point Trackers: An Overview

2021
The generated power from the photovoltaic (PV) array is a function in its terminal voltage. The relation between the generated power and the terminal voltage of the PV array is called the P–V curve. The point corresponding to the highest generated power in this relation is called maximum power point (MPP). This relation has only one peak in the case of

The PSO Based Global Maximum Power Point Tracker

2019 11th International Conference on Electronics, Computers and Artificial Intelligence (ECAI), 2019
The power produced by photovoltaic (PV) module is directly dependent on solar irradiance. The partial shading occurs when PV modules in the PV array have different solar irradiance levels. This can significantly reduce the output power of the PV array.

A fast maximum power point tracker for photovoltaic power systems

IECON'99. Conference Proceedings. 25th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.99CH37029), 2003
In this paper, the authors proposed a novel maximum power point controller, which not only can track the maximum power of an array quickly without perturbation and observation process but also can be implemented easily. The main idea is based on the graphical interpretation of the maximum power point as the intersecting point of two curves on the phase

A simple maximum power point tracker for thermoelectric generators

Energy Conversion and Management, 2016
Abstract ThermoElectric Generators (TEGs) are capable to harvest the ambient thermal energy for power-supplying sensors, actuators, biomedical devices etc. in the μW up to several hundreds of Watts range. In this paper, a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method for TEG elements is proposed, which is based on controlling a power converter such that

The Mechanical Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPTM)

2010
When Concentrating Photovoltaic (CPV) systems came onto the market a few years ago, their extremely high efficiency [1] and expected low costs of electricity have been seen as a major breakthrough to make photovoltaic (PV) energy less expensive. However, solutions had to be found to associate to the high performance of concentrating modules, precise ...

Dynamic maximum power point tracker for photovoltaic applications

PESC Record. 27th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2002
A dynamic process for reaching the maximum power point of a variable power source such as a solar cell is introduced. The process tracks maximum power nearly cycle-by-cycle during transients. Information from the natural switching ripple instead of external perturbation is used to support the maximizing process.
