A fractional order maximum power point tracker: Stability analysis and experiments

2012 IEEE 51st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2012
This paper presents a fractional order extremum seeking control scheme for maximum power point tracking tasks to better accommodate rapid varying solar irradiance for photovoltaic (PV) arrays. The stability analysis of the proposed control algorithm is presented first.

A Closed-Loop Maximum Power Point Tracker for Subwatt Photovoltaic Panels

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2012
This paper proposes a closed-loop maximum power point tracker (MPPT) for subwatt photovoltaic (PV) panels used in wireless sensor networks. Both high power efficiency and low circuit complexity are achieved. A microcontroller (μC) driven by a fast clock was used to implement an MPPT algorithm with a low processing time.

A novel photovoltaic maximum power point tracker for battery charging applications

2012 25th IEEE Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2012
This paper proposes a novel MPPT algorithm mainly for battery charging applications which are considered constant voltage type loads. This is achieved mainly with output current maximization. This technique benefits from advantages such as very simple current controller and also circuit topology independency.

Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) for Photovoltaic Power Systems-A Systematic Literature Review

2018 European Control Conference (ECC), 2018
Photovoltaic (PV) as a renewable source of energy plays a significant role in generating electricities in the industry and distributed consumers. The output power of the PV device is highly nonlinear which is dependent on I-P and V-P characteristics of the device and also irradiation conditions.

A fast and accurate maximum power point tracker for PV systems

2008 Twenty-Third Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2008
The paper presents a fast and accurate maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm for a photovoltaic (PV) panel that uses the open circuit voltage and the short circuit current of the PV panel. The mathematical equations describing the nonlinear V-I characteristics of the PV panel are used in developing the algorithm.

Photovoltaic Systems for Electrolysis Using a Maximum Power Point Tracker

2006 IEEE 24th Convention of Electrical & Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2006
Electrolysis is the process of decomposition of a substance into its chemical components by an electric current. The process takes place in a solution by an electrolytic cell usually at low voltage and high current. A circuit with a voltage source and an internal resistance may represent the characteristic of the electrolytic cell.

A robust maximum power point tracker with fully analog implementation

2017 8th Power Electronics, Drive Systems & Technologies Conference (PEDSTC), 2017
An analog circuit for maximum power point tracking of a PV battery charger with minimum number of elements is proposed which works in a full range condition with a fixed switching frequency. In conventional MPPT algorithms which provide PV current or voltage reference value as output, fast climate changes may cause system instability.

Venus Express, the Maximum Power Point Tracker and the Initial Commissioning

4th International Energy Conversion Engineering Conference and Exhibit (IECEC), 2006
The present paper describes briefly VEX and its subsystems, and in particular the power subsystem, and gives a correlation between the expected and observed power system behavior in normal and Maximum Power Point Tracking operation. Simplified SA electrical and thermal models are used to adapt the sizing cases to the specific ones observed during the ...

Direct-sequence maximum power-point tracker for photovoltaic sources

2010 Power and Energy Conference At Illinois (PECI), 2010
A digital gradient-ascent algorithm is presented to identify and maintain the peak power operating point of a photovoltaic (PV) source with variable I–V characteristics. The approach employs a low-level dither, realized by a one-bit, 64-sample pseudorandom noise (PN) sequence, to perturb the duty cycle of a boost converter that extracts energy from a ...
