Comparative Study on Laboratory and Field Test of Maximum Dynamic Shear Modulus

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
The dynamic shear modulus (DSM) is the most basic soil parameter in earthquake or other dynamic loading conditions and can be obtained through testing in the laboratory and in the field. The experimental result of maximum DSM by using resonant column devices is compared with the field test data obtained from shear wave velocity measurement in the paper.

Maximum shear modulus and incrementally nonlinear soils

2005
Experimental results of a small strain testing program on block samples of compressible Chicago clays are presented, including bender element tests and drained axisymmetric directional stress probes employing internal measurements of axial and radial deformation and axial loads.

Shear modulus of sand-rubber mixtures: element testing and constitutive modeling

Geosynthetics International
In this study, a series of resonant column tests was conducted to measure the shear modulus of sand-rubber mixtures at small strain amplitudes (i.e. between 10−4% and 10−4%), considering different rubber percentages and confining stress levels.

Use of the dilatometer test to estimate the maximum shear modulus of normally consolidated Busan clay

Marine Georesources & Geotechnology, 2018
ABSTRACTThe aim of this experimental study is to estimate the maximum shear modulus (Gmax) of normally consolidated clayey soils using the results of a dilatometer test (DMT).

An experimental research on damping ratio and dynamic shear modulus ratio of frozen silty clay of the Qinghai-Tibet engineering corridor

, 2019
Strong earthquakes occurred frequently in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Major national infrastructure facilities, including existing and proposed projects, are located densely in the permafrost engineering corridor of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Using neural networks and support vector regression to relate marchetti dilatometer test parameters and maximum shear modulus

Applied Intelligence, 2014
In the last two decades, small strain shear modulus became one of the most important geotechnical parameters to characterize soil stiffness. Finite element analysis have shown that in-situ stiffness of soils and rocks is much higher than what was previously thought and that stress-strain behaviour of these materials is non-linear in most cases with ...

Comparison of Maximum Shear Modulus Interpreted from CPT and Laboratory Tests for Eastern Indian Offshore Clays

2020
Maximum shear modulus, Gmax (also called initial shear modulus), is an important parameter for offshore foundation design which is either interpreted from CPT using established correlations or derived from bender element or resonant column tests on high-quality retrieved samples in the laboratory.
