Ultrasound Findings in Symptomatic HADD of the Hand and Wrist. A Case Series of 37 Patients

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 54, Issue 9, Page 2163-2176, November/December 2026.
Ultrasound enables accurate diagnosis of hydroxyapatite deposition disease of the hand and wrist in patients with acute, non‐traumatic pain, typically in middle‐aged women. Characteristic calcifications, often in the resorptive phase, support diagnosis, while radiography may confirm findings without the need for advanced imaging.

Multiple Lipid Scramblases Regulate the Quantity of Extracellular Vesicle Production From the Plasma Membrane

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 11, November 2026.
Cells are wrapped in a double‐sided plasma membrane made up of fatty lipids that can release lipid‐wrapped fragments called extracellular vesicles (EVs). Diverse scramblase proteins, which shuffle lipids across cellular membranes in both directions, can promote EV release.

Alder–Reilly Anomaly Leading to Incidental Diagnosis of MPS VII in an Asymptomatic Adult

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 67, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Mucopolysaccharidosis type VII (MPS VII; Sly syndrome) is a rare autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder caused by deficiency of β‐glucuronidase due to pathogenic variants in the GUSB gene. Impaired degradation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) results in multiorgan dysfunction with highly variable clinical presentation, ranging from severe ...

Harnessing the Horse for Human Osteoarthritis: microRNA‐181a‐5p Antisense Oligonucleotides in Clinically Normal Equine Fetlock Joints Are Safe and Well Tolerated

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Horses serve as a translational model for human osteoarthritis (OA) due to their comparable joint size, cartilage thickness, and incidence of naturally occurring disease. Overexpression of microRNA‐181a‐5p has been implicated in cartilage degradation in OA, and its inhibition using locked nucleic acid antisense oligonucleotides (LNA‐miR‐181a ...

Further fragmentation of Timonius (Rubiaceae): reinstatement of Abbottia based on morphology and molecular sequence data

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 11, November 2026.
The circumscription of the Paleotropical dioecious and species‐rich genus Timonius Rumph. ex DC. nom. cons.has long been based on a restricted combination of morphological features, namely valvate corolla aestivation and drupes bearing multiple, free, single‐seeded pyrenes. Previous studies, focused on different taxonomic problems in tribe Guettardeae,
