Estimating crippling loss from hunting with multistate models: a case study on northern bobwhites
Hunting as a recreational pursuit provides an important ecosystem service worldwide. Harvest management plays a vital role in regulating wildlife take to ensure long‐term population sustainability and meet value‐based objectives (e.g. hunter satisfaction). However, managers rarely have complete control or observability of harvest mortality.

Estimating orbital parameters of direct imaging exoplanet using neural networks
We propose a flow-matching Markov chain Monte Carlo (FM-MCMC) algorithm for estimating the orbital parameters of exoplanetary systems, especially for those in which only one exoplanet is involved.

Obtaining accurate information on demographic states, such as the age and sex classes of animals, is an important step for monitoring wildlife populations. Traditionally, demographic data are collected from harvest, aerial surveys and telemetry studies.

We estimated seasonal space use, cover selection, and resource selection; evaluated gene flow and potential genetic barriers; and assessed cause‐specific survival rates and reproduction of radiomarked gray foxes in Indiana, USA. Our results provide evidence that gray foxes in Indiana are an edge species with relatively large home ranges, relatively low

MultiRobot Motion Planning Based on Diffusion and Time–Space Path Planning
This diffusion‐based framework for multirobot motion planning reuses a pretrained single‐robot Motion Planning Diffusion model, employing an alternating trajectory generation scheme guided by inter‐robot collision costs, resulting in coordinated planning without additional multi‐robot training.

Microsecond X‐ray reflectometry
X‐ray reflectometry is accelerated to 213 µs net exposure time using galvanometer scanning, which enables unprecedented temporal resolution for studying dynamic thin‐film processes. We accelerate synchrotron X‐ray reflectometry (XRR) by more than an order of magnitude and demonstrate the acquisition of full reflectivity curves within 213 µs over a qz ...

Between‐species contagion drives HPAI transmission and mass mortality in seabirds
Modelling the unprecedented avian panzootic caused by High‐Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) across the Northeast Atlantic gannet breeding metapopulation, we estimated 28% (95% CI: 21%–34%) HPAI‐related mortality. Large‐scale outbreak initiation was best explained by external infection sources, most likely, other seabird species.

Functional traits explain responses of Appalachian birds to vertical and horizontal forest structure
The study of bird–forest relationships dates back decades, but rarely have the relationships of functional traits to 3D forest structure responses been considered for dozens of species at regional scales. Abstract Species interact with habitat based on their functional traits, but it is unclear how specific traits interact with the multiple components ...

Coloration serves several fitness‐related functions, including thermoregulation, immunity, social signaling, sexual selection, and predator avoidance. Consequently, color polymorphism can have a significant impact on a species’ interactions with its environment, including its relationships with predators, prey, and potential mates. The wood tiger moth (

boa: An R Package for MCMC Output Convergence Assessment and Posterior Inference
Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) is the most widely used method of estimating joint posterior distributions in Bayesian analysis. The idea of MCMC is to iteratively produce parameter values that are representative samples from the joint posterior.
