Ensaio sobre o termo “vulgarização científica” no Brasil do século XIX

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de História da Ciência, 2008
O presente artigo pretende analisar a história do termo “vulgarização científica”. Ao fazer uma reflexão sobre o conceito, também estamos analisando sua prática e quais os processos sociais que o construíram, notadamente a institucionalização da ciência,

Testing Mode-Coupling Theory for a Supercooled Binary Lennard-Jones Mixture II: Intermediate Scattering Function and Dynamic Susceptibility

open access: yes, 1995
We have performed a molecular dynamics computer simulation of a supercooled binary Lennard-Jones system in order to compare the dynamical behavior of this system with the predictions of the idealized version of mode-coupling theory (MCT).

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.

Gαi1/3 Is a Novel Regulatory Target for RANKL Signal Transduction and Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Osteoporosis, characterized by progressive bone loss and increased fracture risk, is a growing concern as the population ages. Current treatments, though advanced, remain limited, underscoring the necessity for novel therapeutic targets. Recent studies have shown that the immune system plays a key role in osteoporosis, with osteoclasts driving

The Cole-Cole Law for Critical Dynamics in Glass-Forming Liquids

open access: yes, 2006
Within the mode-coupling theory (MCT) for glassy dynamics, the asymptotic low-frequency expansions for the dynamical susceptibilities at critical points are compared to the expansions for the dynamic moduli; this shows that the convergence properties of ...

Navigating the Ethereal Tightrope: The Nanogenerator Manipulates Neurons for Immune Equilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores how nanogenerators modulate neuroimmune responses, offering innovative strategies for treating neurological disorders. By interfacing with neural pathways, they enable precise control of immune activity, especially via vagus nerve stimulation.

TOPOLOGICAL DERIVATIVE METHOD FOR ELECTRICAL IMPEDANCE TOMOGRAPHY PROBLEMS

open access: yesInformatyka, Automatyka, Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska, 2016
In the field of shape and topology optimization the new concept is the topological derivative of a given shape functional. The asymptotic analysis is applied in order to determine the topological derivative of shape functionals for elliptic problems. The

Targeting Lactate and Lactylation in Cancer Metabolism and Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate, once deemed a metabolic waste, emerges as a central regulator of cancer progression. This review elucidates how lactate and its epigenetic derivative, protein lactylation, orchestrate tumor metabolism, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance.

The evolution of vibrational excitations in glassy systems

open access: yes, 1999
The equations of the mode-coupling theory (MCT) for ideal liquid-glass transitions are used for a discussion of the evolution of the density-fluctuation spectra of glass-forming systems for frequencies within the dynamical window between the band of high-

Dynamic Interfacial Modulation in Pt@Ga Liquid Metal Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a facile dissolution‐reconstruction approach to prepare the Pt@Ga liquid catalyst by dissolving Pt in molten Ga and then using electrochemical treatment to reconstruct Pt on the Ga support, which provides a new design strategy for liquid‐metal catalysts and enhances the understanding of oxide‐modulated segregation, offering new ...
