Dynamo and Electrical Jet in Hall Plasmas, Application to Astrophysics

open access: yes, 2001
The magnetic field in Hall plasmas is frozen in the electron component and is advected not only with the plasma motion but also with the electrical current flow. Its coupling with the plasma may be not as strong as characteristic of the MHD approximation.

Body Biofluids for Minimally‐Invasive Diagnostics: Insights, Challenges, Emerging Technologies, and Clinical Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Recent advances in diagnostics have accelerated the development of miniaturized wearable technologies for the continuous monitoring of diseases. This paradigm is shifting healthcare away from invasive, centralized blood tests toward decentralized monitoring, using alternative body biofluids.

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Effect of multidisciplinary care on diabetic kidney disease: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesBMC Nephrology
Background Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the most common disease among patients requiring dialysis for the first time in Japan. Multidisciplinary care (MDC) may prevent the progression of kidney failure. However, the effectiveness and timing of MDC to

POM‐Based Water Splitting Catalyst Under Acid Conditions Driven by Its Assembly on Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A newly‐engineered POM‐based electrocatalyst incorporating non‐innocent counter cations exhibits fast kinetics for either the OER or HER under strongly acidic conditions (1 m H2SO4), depending on whether it is assembled on carbon nanotubes (1@CNT) or physically mixed with them (1/CNT). In water‐splitting tests using a two‐electrode setup, these systems

Serum levels of TARC, MDC, IL-10, and soluble CD163 in Hodgkin lymphoma: a SWOG S0816 correlative study.

open access: yesBlood, 2019
Serum soluble chemokines/cytokines produced by Hodgkin cells and the tumor microenvironment might be of value as biomarkers in classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). We assessed serum thymus and activation-related chemokine (TARC), macrophage-derived chemokine (

Testing A (Stringy) Model of Quantum Gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
I discuss a specific model of space-time foam, inspired by the modern non-perturbative approach to string theory (D-branes). The model views our world as a three brane, intersecting with D-particles that represent stringy quantum gravity effects, which ...

Electrically Readable Lateral Flow Assay Using Organic Transistors for Diagnostic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte‐gated organic field‐effect transistors (EGOFETs) are integrated with lateral flow (LF) paper fluidics to create a reusable, portable, and low‐cost point‐of‐care (PoC) diagnostic test. The devices are validated for Human Immunoglobulin G detection, achieving high sensitivity (0.1 fm), selectivity, and reproducibility with rapid results in 20–
