On Shift-Dependent Cumulative Entropy Measures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2016
Measures of cumulative residual entropy (CRE) and cumulative entropy (CE) about predictability of failure time of a system have been introduced in the studies of reliability and life testing.

On the change points of mean residual life and failure rate functions for some generalized gamma type distributions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Metrology and Quality Engineering, 2014
Mean residual life and failure rate functions are ubiquitously employed in reliability analysis. The term of useful period of lifetime distributions of bathtub-shaped failure rate functions is referred to the flat rigion of this ...

The Gumbel-Lomax Distribution: Properties and Applications [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2016
We introduce a new four-parameter model called the Gumbel-Lomax distribution arising from the Gumbel- X generator recently proposed by Al-Aqtash (2013).

RESEARCH OF RESIDUAL LIFETIME OF DIESEL ENGINES FUEL INJECTION EQUIPMENT BY MEANS OF FUEL INJECTION MATHEMATIC SIMULATION [PDF]

open access: yesENGINEERING, ENERGY, TRANSPORT AIC, 2020
On the basis of the engineering practices of the last 3-4 decades, it is known, tested and proven that, while mathematical models provide reliable descriptions of processes, cycles or physical phenomena, in theoretical research the theory of small deviations is comprehensively preferable to any experiment on regulating characteristics.

The Complementary Exponentiated Exponential Geometric Lifetime Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2013
We proposed a new family of lifetime distributions, namely, complementary exponentiated exponential geometric distribution. This new family arises on a latent competing risk scenario, where the lifetime associated with a particular risk is not observable

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Adaptive Variational Modal Decomposition–Dual Attention Mechanism Parallel Residual Network: A Tool Lifetime Prediction Method Based on Adaptive Noise Reduction

open access: yesMathematics
This paper addresses the issue of noise interference and variable working conditions in the production and machining environment, which lead to weak tool life features and reduced prediction accuracy.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Bounds on the Lifetime Expectations of Series Systems with IFR Component Lifetimes

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
We consider series systems built of components which have independent identically distributed (iid) lifetimes with an increasing failure rate (IFR). We determine sharp upper bounds for the expectations of the system lifetimes expressed in terms of the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
