Crossover Behaviour In Driven Cascades

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a model which explains how power-law crossover behaviour can arise in a system which is capable of experiencing cascading failure. In our model the susceptibility of the system to cascades is described by a single number, the propagation power,

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Proportional pulse pressure relates to cardiac index in stabilized acute heart failure patients

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension, 2018
Aims: In chronic heart failure, proportional pulse pressure (PPP) is suggested as an estimate of cardiac index (CI). The association between CI and PPP in acute heart failure (AHF) has not been described.

Treatment Rate Of Second Mesio-Buccal Canals In Maxillary Molars In A Musod Endodontic Resident Patient Population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose: The primary reason for non-surgical root canal treatment (NSRCT) failure in an upper molar is inadequate cleaning, shaping and filling of the second mesio-buccal root canal (MB2). Failure to locate and treat a present MB2 will lead to a worsened

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Indicators of Bacterial Colonization in Failed Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstructions

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2017
Objectives: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair is one of the most common orthopedic procedures performed, with over 175,000 operations performed each year. While rare, graft failure can be a detrimental complication. A 2003 meta-analysis by Freedman

Demographic translation and tempo effects [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper I review the concept of tempo effects in demography, focusing on the tempo adjustments proposed by Bongaarts and Feeney and drawing on the work of Ryder and Zeng and Land.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.
