Influence of Mechanical Activation on the selectivity of Bornite Leaching [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2004
Sulfidic mineral bornit Cu5FeS4 was exposed to the selective leaching of copper in H2SO4 solution. Surface changes of the mechanically activated sulphide were investigated before and after leaching using the infrared spectroscopy and the scanning ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

High-threshold mechanosensitive ion channels blocked by a novel conopeptide mediate pressure-evoked pain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Little is known about the molecular basis of somatosensory mechanotransduction in mammals. We screened a library of peptide toxins for effects on mechanically activated currents in cultured dorsal root ganglion neurons.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

The Influence of Thermo-Mechanical Activation of Bentonite on the Mechanical and Durability Performance of Concrete

open access: yes, 2019
Despite presenting a very high global warming toll, Portland cement concrete is the most widely used construction material in the world. The eco-efficiency, economy, and the overall mechanical and durability performances of concrete can be improved by ...

Glass Waste as a Supplementary Cementitious Material in Climate Reduced Concrete – A Review

open access: yesNordic Concrete Research
A recycling pathway using flat glass waste as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) leads to circularity in concrete production through industrial symbiosis.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
