The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

How often do we alter constitutional limb alignment, joint line obliquity, and Coronal Plane Alignment of the Knee (CPAK) phenotype when performing mechanically aligned TKA?: a large single-institution retrospective radiological analysis

open access: yesBone & Joint Open
Aims: While mechanical alignment (MA) is the traditional technique in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), its potential for altering constitutional alignment remains poorly understood.

Short-term functional outcomes of robotic-assisted TKA are better with functional alignment compared to adjusted mechanical alignment. [PDF]

open access: yesSICOT J
Introduction: Ligament balancing is essential to the functional outcome of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The optimal method of alignment remains a controversial issue.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Posterior condylar offset and clinical outcomes in medial pivot total knee arthroplasty: A comparison of mechanical and kinematic alignment

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose The purpose of this study was to compare preservation of posterior condylar offset (PCO) and posterior condylar offset ratio (PCOR) after medial pivot (MP) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) performed with kinematic (KA) or mechanical alignment (MA ...

The immediate post-operative radiograph is an unreliable measure of coronal plane alignment in total knee replacement.

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2014
Background - Restoration of a neutral mechanical axis is a primary goal of total knee replacement (TKR). A mechanical axis within three degrees of neutral has been correlated with improved implant longevity, function and patient satisfaction.

The opto-mechanical alignment procedure of the VLT Survey Telescope

open access: yes, 2010
The VLT Survey Telescope is a f/5.5 modified Ritchey-Chretien imaging telescope, which is being installed at the ESO-Paranal Observatory. It will provide a one square degree corrected field of view to perform surveyprojects in the wavelength range from ...
