The Stirling engine mechanism optimization
A special type of the gas engine with external combustion is called Stirling engine. The mechanism has two pistons with two volumes inside. The pistons are connected together through cooler, regenerator and warmer. The engine effectivity depends on the piston movement behaviour. The usual sinusoidal time curve leads to low effectiveness.

Computational Analysis of Hybrid Norwood Circulation with Distal Aortic Arch Obstruction and Reverse Blalock-Taussig Shunt [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The hemodynamics characteristics of the hybrid Norwood (HN) procedure differ from those of the conventional Norwood and are not fully understood. We present a multi-scale model of HN circulation to understand local hemodynamics and effects of

Photoacoustic Study of KrF Laser Heating of Si: Implications for Laser Particle Removal [PDF]
A photoacoustic study of KrF laser heating of Si has revealed that the dominant mechanism of acoustic generation is thermoacoustic with a considerable contribution from the concentration-deformation mechanism at laser fluences below the Si melting ...

A photonic quantum engine driven by superradiance [PDF]
Performance of nano- and micro-scale heat engines can be improved with a help from quantum mechanical phenomena. Recently, heat reservoirs with quantum coherence have been proposed to enhance engine performance beyond the Carnot limit even with a single reservoir. However, no physical realizations have been achieved so far.

Revisiting Endo-reversible Carnot engine: Extending the Yvon engine [PDF]
A famous paper [Am. J. Phys. 43, 22 (1975)] unveiled the efficiency at maximum power (EMP) of the endo-reversible Carnot heat engine, now commonly referred to as the Curzon-Ahlborn (CA) engine, pioneering finite-time thermodynamics. Historically, despite the significance of the CA engine, similar findings had emerged at an earlier time, such as the ...
