Nanostructuration of CoSi by mechanical milling and mechanical alloying

Solid State Sciences, 2014
CoSi is an inexpensive thermoelectric material for medium temperature (200–500 °C). Its power factor is as large as the state of the art materials; however, its thermal conductivity is too large. Then, improving its thermoelectric performances implies increasing the scattering of phonons, which can be performed by nanostructuring the material.

On the mechanism of molybdenite exfoliation during mechanical milling

Ceramics International, 2017
Abstract MoS 2 was subjected to the exfoliation process via mechanical milling. X-ray powder diffraction method was used to evaluate structural changes during exfoliation. Electron and atomic force microscopes were employed to investigate nanosheets morphology and thickness.

Changing the magnetism of amorphous FeSiB by mechanical milling

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2010
We have studied the magnetic properties of a sample obtained by high-energy mechanical milling from a ferromagnetic FeSiB amorphous ribbon. The milled material mainly consists of a Fe-based amorphous matrix embedding a minor fraction of α-Fe nanocrystallites (∼23%), and magnetization dynamics effects characterize the magnetic behavior. In particular, a

Gastric Mill Mechanisms

1987
The crustacean stomach contains three teeth in the form of chitinous ossicles (Mocquard 1883, Patwardhan 1935, Schaefer 1970; Yonge 1924). D.M. Maynard (1966) recognized the fact that these teeth were controlled by neurons in the stomatogastric ganglion and could show by means of combined myographic and cinematic studies that their movements were quite

Mechanical milling of magnesium powder

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2001
Abstract The evolution of microstructure during mechanical milling of magnesium powder has been studied. Commercially pure (99.6%, −325 mesh) magnesium powder was mechanically milled in a modified SPEX 8000 shaker mill in an inert atmosphere. The optical microscopy of the powder in the early stage of milling showed deformation by twinning and re ...

Tumbling Mill Mechanics

1981
A tumbling mill is a collective name for the generally known ball mills, rod mills, tube mills, pebble mills and autogeneous mills. For all these kinds of mills the mechanics can be dealt with together, there being no substantial difference in the grinding process.

Decomposition induced by mechanical milling

Proceedings. The 9th Russian-Korean International Symposium on Science and Technology, 2005. KORUS 2005., 2006
The decomposition behavior of FeSn, CoSn, CoIn/sub 2/ and Al/sub 3/Ni intermetallics under high-energy ball-milling has been investigated using X-ray diffraction, calorimetric and magnetization measurements. Upon milling a large amount of the FeSn inter metallic decomposes into Fe/sub 5/Sn/sub 3/ and FeSn/sub 2/, where the average grain size of the ...

Statistical mechanics of Yang-Mills classical mechanics

Physical Review C, 2005
Statistical mechanics (SM) of Yang-Mills classical mechanics is studied by using a toy model that resembles chaotic quartic oscillators. This nonlinear system attains the thermodynamic equilibrium not by collisions, which is generally assumed in SM, but by chaotic dynamics.

Disordering of FeAl by Mechanical Milling

Materials Science Forum, 1996
Point defect concentrations in milled samples of stoichiometric FeAl were obtained by Msssbauer measurements. Msssbauer spectra consisted of a single absorption dip with broadening attributed to unresolved hyperfine interactions. A local environment model was used to analyze spectra that allowed for defect-induced changes in monopole interactions at Fe
